I have etc. to acknowledge the

receipt of Mr. Smith's despatch No. 374

of the 31st May, and to inform you that

His Majesty will not be advised to

exercise his power of disallowance in

respect of Hong Kong Ordinance No. 8 of

1937, shortly entitled the "Pharmacy and

Poisons Ordinance, 1937".

Section 19(2) of the Ordinance,

which corresponds to Section 18(2) of the

Pharmacy and Poisons Act, 1933, restricts

the sale of poisons in Part I of the

Poisons List to a person known to the

seller or certified in the prescribed

manner to be a person to whom the poison
